This Caution Men Working Overhead Sign provides a clear and highly visible warning that work is taking place above or overhead. The sign helps alert workers, contractors, visitors and pedestrians before they enter an area where activities at height could create hazards for people below.

Overhead work can introduce risks from falling tools, equipment, materials, debris and other objects. Clear warning signage helps make people aware of the activity before they approach the affected area. The prominent Caution heading attracts attention, while the Men Working Overhead message clearly identifies the nature and location of the work being carried out.

This sign is suitable for construction sites, factories, warehouses, engineering facilities, maintenance projects, commercial buildings and other locations where people are working above ground level. Typical applications can include work from scaffolding, mobile elevated work platforms, towers, ladders, roofs, elevated platforms and other areas where work is being undertaken overhead.

The sign can be positioned at entrances, barriers, pedestrian routes and other approaches to the work area so that people receive advance warning before passing underneath or close to the overhead activity. Where there is a foreseeable risk of objects falling from above, suitable measures should be taken to prevent people from entering the danger area wherever reasonably practicable.

Barriers, fencing or clearly defined exclusion zones may be required around the area below overhead work depending on the nature of the activity and the risks identified. A Caution Men Working Overhead Sign should not be relied upon as the sole means of protecting people from falling objects or other hazards associated with work at height.

Tools, equipment and materials used at height should be appropriately managed to reduce the possibility of them falling onto people below. Suitable measures may include toe boards, brick guards, debris netting, screens, tool securing systems and protected walkways depending on the work being undertaken.

Materials should not be stored close to unprotected edges where they could be accidentally knocked, blown or otherwise displaced into an area below. Weather conditions should also be considered when work takes place outdoors. Strong winds can increase the risk of lightweight materials, tools or debris being displaced from elevated work areas.

Where overhead work takes place above an existing pedestrian route, consideration should be given to temporarily closing or diverting the route if it cannot be adequately protected. In occupied workplaces, employees and visitors should be informed of temporary changes to access routes where overhead work affects their normal movement around the premises.

This sign can be displayed alongside Beware Falling Objects, Danger Overhead Hazard, Keep Out, No Unauthorised Access and other appropriate warning or prohibition signs. Where head protection is required within or around the work area, a separate Safety Helmets Must Be Worn sign should be used to clearly communicate the mandatory PPE requirement.

Personal protective equipment can provide additional protection but should not be used as a substitute for measures designed to prevent objects from falling or people entering the danger area. People carrying out work at height should use suitable work equipment appropriate to the task, with safe access and appropriate fall prevention or protection measures provided where required.

Work at height should be properly planned, appropriately supervised and carried out by people with the necessary competence for the work involved. The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require work at height to be properly planned and managed, with suitable measures used to prevent falls and protect people who could be affected by falling objects.

Where overhead work involves additional hazards such as welding, electrical work, lifting operations or moving machinery, suitable specific warning signs and control measures should also be provided. The sign should be installed in a prominent position where it can be clearly seen before people enter the affected area. Multiple signs may be required where the overhead work can be approached from several directions.

As the work progresses or moves to another location, warning signs, barriers and exclusion zones should be repositioned so that they continue to accurately identify the hazardous area. Temporary warning signs should be removed when the overhead work has finished and the associated hazard is no longer present. This helps ensure that safety warnings remain relevant and are taken seriously.

This Caution Men Working Overhead Sign provides an important visual warning but should complement rather than replace appropriate risk assessment, exclusion zones, edge protection, falling object controls, safe work equipment, PPE and suitable supervision.

Manufactured from durable, high quality materials with clear print and excellent visibility, this Caution Men Working Overhead Sign provides a professional and long lasting solution for warning workers, visitors and pedestrians that work is taking place above them.
